Why Liquids?

So why use liquids?  Rock salt requires direct contact with moisture (snow,ice) to begin the brine process.  As the temperature falls below 32 degrees F, there is less available moisture for the brine process and rock salts melting power decreases.  By adding calcium chloride brine and beet juice blends, we can fill that void of moisture and increase the melting power of rock salt.
